Xidan Pailou ( a former ceremonial gate in Beijing), which had disappeared for 85 years, was rebuilt and completed on July 3rd on Xidan Crossroad. The original name of Xidan Pailou is Zhanyun Fang, which was built up in Ming Dynasty. It was located on the west side of the imperial city and was a single west Pailou (which is "Xidan Pailou" in Chinese). Since middle Qing Dynasty, Xidan is a prosperous area. It has always been a place where people can eat, drink and seek pleasure. Records of Xidan Pailou, which is a symbolic structure of Xidan area, are usually seen in ancient books. The Xidan Pailou was destroyed in 1923. As for the strong requests of Beijing citizens, it has been rebuilt in the extensive renovation project of Xidan Square.
