Lin Duo, secretary of the district Party committee, wove to the spectators as a torchbearer.

On Aug. 6th, with the cheers for Beijing Olympics from the spectators, Lin Pengzhi, the first torchbearer of Xicheng District took hold of the XiangYun Torch, which stands for "Peace","Passion" and "Hope". While the holy fire for the Olympic Games was lightened, the passion of all the spectators was also lightened. From Liu Pengzhi, the holy fire began to pass on in Xicheng District.
The holy fire for the Olympic Games passed the National Centre for the Performing Arts and the Great Hall of People. The whole course is 2184 meters. 57 torchbearers have the luck to pass the holy fire. Among the whole course, the west road and the south road of the National Centre for the Performing Arts are two newly-constructed roads, which took 4 months to complete and greatly alleviate the traffic congestion in the nearby areas. The green belt and the pseudo-classic architectures besides the two roads also create a pleasing traffic enviroment and beautiful visual effect around the National Centre for the Performing Arts.
Xicheng District government renewed the traditional Beijing residential flavor on the west side of the National Centre for the Porferming Arts and renovated the one-storey houses, which greatly improved the living condition of the residents in the area. Today, on one side of the road is the National Centre for the Performing Arts, which is full of modern and fashionable flavor, on the other side is the scene of one-storey houses and HuTongs, which stands for the traditional Beijing culture.
The deafening sound of gones and drums, the enthusiastic shouting and the waving red flags turned the areas around the National Centre for the Performing Arts and the Great Hall of People into a cheerful land of happiness and joy. While passing the holy fire, the torchbearers held the torch high up, wove to the spectators and cheered for Beijing and for Olympic Games. The passion of the torchbearers and the enthusiasm of the spectators joined together and became the best wishes for the 29th Beijing Olympic Games.
By the two sides of the road, a large number of spectators arrived in the early morning. They were wearing colourful clothes, holding the national flags and Olympic flags and filled with ardor. Some of them stick micro Chinese national flags on their faces. Some took pictures with the torchbearers to record the exciting moments. All the people cheered and boosted for the holy fire and the Olympic Game in their most enthusiastic ways.
